Warranty on Desktops, Laptops and Tablets

Saint Mary's owned desktops, laptops and tablets are under a 3yr warranty/accidental contract.

If you notice any problems, with any piece of equipment, call the Helpdesk and log a call.

Laptop/tablet problems may include:  laptop latch, CD ROM drive, fan, or keyboard/mouse not working. 
Desktop problems my include: fan not working, hard drive crashing, and/or CD ROM drive not working.

The HP 8000 (desktop), HP 8440 (laptop), and HP 2740 (tablet) warranties will expire this coming summer.  If anyone has any issues with them, now is the time to let iT know.

Windows 8 in Lab 17

Windows 8 is installed on 4 machines in Lab 17.  Two of the machines have touch screen monitors allowing you to really experience Windows 8 as it was designed.  We have no plans to migrate to Windows 8 this coming summer, but we will most likely be moving to Windows 8 at some point in the future.  Take it for a spin today!

MS Office Powerpoint Tip: Turn your mouse into a laser pointer

When you want to emphasize a point on a slide, you can turn your mouse pointer into a laser pointer.

In Slide Show view, simply hold down CTRL, click the left mouse button, and begin pointing.

To change the pointer color, click Slide Show from the Ribbon, then click Set Up Slide Show, 

under Show options, Pen color, Specify the color you want for your laser pointer

Brother Leopold Hall Swipeless Card Access

Brother Leopold Hall is one of the first locations on campus to feature card proximity readers.  It offers a swipeless design that will prolong the longevity of student ID cards and offer more flexibility in building access.

January 2013 Blackboard Upgrade

Information Technology will be upgrading Blackboard Learn to 9.1 SP9.  This will result in Blackboard being unavailable between 8pm-3am CST on January 3rd, 2013. If you would like to preview the new version prior to the upgrade, you may do so at bbpilot.smumn.edu. Please note any changes made in the preview will not be saved.
